The Saltmarsh 75 is a coastal ultramarathon along the Essex Saltmarsh coastline, between South Woodham Ferrers and Salcott. As its name suggests the event is approximately 75 miles long. This year we have options for the traditional 2 day format, but we have added a continuous 75mi option also for the first time and included a 3 person relay team option for single days, 2 day and continuous entries. We have shuttle options in place for the weekend to ferry you from the finish to the start lines before your chosen event. More details can be found during the registration process.
The event is open to runners and walkers alike and we have generous cut off times in place to accomodate this. All participants will be tracked via individual GPS throughout and you will physically check in at the checkpoints as directed throughout the event. The GPS tracking will be available to you personally and also to your family and friends via the app. so that they can keep an eye on you and intercept you where you need the support the most.
Route details are on the above tabs and they provide the opportunity to download the gpx files if you wish to do so. The route will be marked at key points but not extensively. We would suggest having at least the gpx file on your watch or a hard/digital copy of the map/instructions with you. They will be available for download via the event website.
Details such as cut off times, mandatory kit list, bag drop details, aid station locations and provisions available at them will be contained within the participant information HERE
This event is a fully supported Ultramarathon, with aid stations and checkpoints at regular intervals. We will have hot food and drinks at locations such as the half way point in Steeple and at Tollesbury before the last push to the finish, and fully stocked aid stations elsewhere at regular intervals of approx 10-15km. We have a designated First Aid team who will be looking after you all weekend and with individual GPS trackers for all participants we'll be able to keep you safe throughout. We will have agreements with local landowners and 4x4 access team on hand to reach the remotest parts of the course, should the need arise.
Please note that due to the remote nature of this event, in some cases the aid stations and the route itself may have to change subject to any seawall works or accessibility issues that may occur. However, we have made every attempt to avoid this upfront and the currently available routes reflect the current agreements in place.
The event is cupless, please bring something for us to fill with your drinks. We will provide recyclable paper cups for hot drinks at aid stations where applicable. Please don't rely on these, they will not be at every station!
When you reach the finish line, you will recieve an H&T Running Saltmarsh 75 bespoke medal, goody bag, finisher t-shirt and endless bragging rights.
