Wonderful friendly atmosphere. Unbelievably hot today but I was prepared for that. My first trails marathon and the generous cut off times allowed me to get round in one piece! Gorgeous route, instructions along side route file on OS maps all clear.
I only just made it 20 mins before cut off but the finish line marshalls/organisers made it feel as special as if I'd won, applauding in the last few of us. Loved it, thank you so much. I will definitely be booking with Hare and Tortoise again!

Friendly and inclusive event around some stunning countryside

Such a Beautiful scenic course, tough in some places, a few hidden paths but all part of the fun of self navigation. H&T have built a great community who are very welcoming to everyone. I would 100% recommend this race!

Fantastic event
Thanks Pete, Bev and team for a wonderful event. I have now run the marathon or half 5 times under 3 different organising companies, and it remains a well-organised, friendly event in the true spirit of trail running. One piece of constructive criticism: you need a check-point, marshal, or at least a sign, in Stratford St Mary at the point where the marathon and half marathon routes diverge. Chatting to other runners afterwards it was apparent that some 'half' runners had followed the marathon route here (adding about an extra mile to their run). And conversely, it would have been easy for a marathon runner to inadvertently follow the half runners here and accidentally miss out that mile.
Thank you for your feedback, it's really helpful and we will feed this into our post-race debrief and also our planning discussions for next year.

Beautiful trails - well organised race - thank you!

Really enjoyable but challenging trail marathon
I would recommend having the route downloaded onto a device to run this and be warned, the conditions were Hot this year - go prepared! The water stations were a life saver (apart from an unfortunate glitch at the first one 6 miles in - no water when I arrived but it was being sorted), and the snacks were first class
On a personal note a big thankyou to the organisers, water station volunteers and other runners for looking after me so well.

Beautiful Course, Brutal in the Sun!
Another fantastic event by H&T. These are relatively low-key events, you turn up, you run. That's not to detract from the extensive organisation that clearly goes into them. A great venue, with ample parking and enough toilets. The encouragement from the aid stations and goodies on offer were much appreciated on a very hot day. These events seem to attract the very best types of people in my opinion, everyone looking out for and encouraging each other round the course. Great fun overall.

Tough course but well organised
Pretty course and some decent climbs and decents, maybe a sign at for the 1/2 and full split or mention in briefing (missed by Marshall ! )
The last sign into field was hidden in trees perhaps another at the split of footpaths just before !
Otherwise Good value for money and good day out

A great local event run by real enthusiasts - By runners for runners!!

Always well organised and this was a great route. Thank you

Running out of water on 1st check point wasn’t good adding more time onto our race . We were told to have colapsable cups to have a drink with and others filled up their water bottles , maybe that’s why they ran out so soon . Also extra water should have been put on . Apart from that it’s a lovely event

Amazing but hard course, well organised
Would just like to add the aid stations were amazing. Not only well stocked but the people there were happy and motivated and really helped in pushing on for the next part. Beautiful medal, still by far the best medal out there
David Hitchin
Beautiful and scenic, but tough.
Wonderful, friendly people helping at aid stations and organising. The fact that it is 'relatively' small as an event means there's a really friendly feel. My first marathon and couldn't be happier with the communication, organisation and support. Oh, and the course is spectacular.

Attractive beautiful event
Great event - low key is fine.
Chris Leigh
Great event. Loved the route and the medal/t shirt combo was brilliant.
Another great value H&T event!

Couldn't be better
One of my favourite routes. 2025 was super hot and the volunteers worked so hard to keep the aid stations full of water and fuel. Super friendly and relaxed atmosphere for a route that is tougher than a lot of people give it credit for. Def will run it again (it's my most returned to event)
Sean Ketteridge
Poor water station at first check point.
Benjamin Solway
Friendly and relaxed, every supporting each other
Just slight let down by first aid station not having enough water , might have help to have more containers to fill bottles from,
Tom Dowdeswell
Value for money
Could do with more guidance for new beginners, but ultimately it was very good value for money

Excellent day, many thanks for everything
I really enjoyed it but my only criticism was that the route could have been sent out to the competitors in advance? I may have missed it but I ended up downloading a route which was a little inaccurate unfortunately and I ended retracing my steps several times
Good morning. I hope you are recovering well. Great running yesterday! Thanks for your review, I thought I’d follow up. The route was communicated prior to the event via your final instructions email, with links to both gpx and written instructions contained therein. We send the final route out at this late stage to ensure it is as up to date with changing course conditions as possible rather than cause confusion with multiple routes being sent out in the run up to the event. I hope you enjoyed the event however and wish you a sound recovery. Best wishes. Pete
